What started as a modest hamburger joint 80 years ago, evolved through the decades into a landmark restaurant and hotel known as the Cheshire Inn and Lodge. In 2011, this local treasure underwent a multi-million dollar renovation preserving its charm and character while transforming The Cheshire into a modern, luxury boutique hotel.

The Cheshire is located in the upscale Clayton neighborhood, which is about ten minutes from downtown St. Louis. We are a short drive from Forest Park and Washington University. Forest Park is home to several grassy areas, along with world-class museums, theaters and golf courses. Located near Washington University, the newly reinvigorated Delmar Loop features exceptional restaurants and vibrant live music venues.

Located in the Cheshire complex, The Backroom is a private bar and lounge designed for those who choose to smoke cigars (the rest of the hotel is entirely smoke-free).
