Mandy Drozda’s Story
It was the Saturday after September 11, 2001. I was 24 years old and I was, as my friends and I always did, finishing my night out at the Cheshire. We always had the most fun and loved ending our evenings there. It went something like this: “If I don’t see you, we’ll meet at Cheshire later.” I also used to always say, “if you are going to Cheshire to meet someone like your future husband, then you should go home. The Cheshire is for one more drink and lots of fun.” That is exactly what I always had there. Well, it may have actually been a few more drinks…
That Saturday on September 15th, 2001, I met my husband at 2am. He liked to tell his mom we met at church, but I made a toast on our wedding night and set the record straight that we actually met at the Cheshire. This gave everyone a good laugh and earned me the nickname “Chesh,” which my husband has called me since that night.
This fall it will be 10 years since we met there and 6 years since we married. Thanks for all the good times and here’s to many more when you open your doors this fall.
