Maureen Gehrlein’s Story
We shared a very memorable New Year’s Eve at the Cheshire. At that time, I was dating the man who would become my husband, but unfortunately it was long distance. I had moved back to St. Louis for a job but he was stuck back in Pittsburgh because he was unable to find a job in STL and was scared to make the leap without one. We spent New Year’s Eve at the Fox and Hounds and my husband (a salesman and bartender back in Pittsburgh) really hit it off with the bartender Mark. Through cocktails and stories, Mark helped give my husband the courage to take the leap and move to St. Louis. Mark also gave my husband a signed copy of his book “Bottled Wisdom,” which my husband loves. So he did take the leap and moved here without a job. We have now been married almost 3 years and have a beautiful 1 year old girl. We have had other fun memories staying at the Cheshire after the St. Patty’s Day Run and Parade and visiting the Fox and Hounds’ late night bar. Being new parents, we have not gotten out too much, but would love to celebrate our upcoming anniversary at the Cheshire. It is truly a get away with that unique British charm and warm ’n cozy feel.
