Richard Vallat’s Story
In March of 1966 I asked my girlfriend of two years to dinner. She was very excited to learn that I was taking her to the Cheshire Inn in Richmond Heights. When we arrived and were walking toward the restaurant, I asked her to take a seat in one of the window seats along the hall. I then knelt before her, proposed, and slipped an engagement ring on her finger. It is a moment we will never forget. We have returned to the Cheshire Inn numerous times since and have always taken the time to stop where that window seat was and just remember that wonderful moment that we shared together. The Cheshire will always hold a special place in our hearts and this year we look forward to returning to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We are looking forward to seeing the newly remodeled Cheshire, but we will never forget the way it was and “the way we were.” Just maybe we will have the opportunity to start a new memory at the new Cheshire.
